BLESS THE LORD, OH MY SOUL …
FORGET NOT ALL HIS BENEFITS
Did you go to an Ash Wednesday service? Then you likely read some of Psalm 103!
Each season of the Seasons and Sacraments Curriculum includes a large memory work goal.
Why memory work? Because I’ve found that hiding God’s word in my heart does move me toward the goal that I might not sin against him. And I’m not talking about just the sins of theft, adultery, or murder. I’m talking about the sins of covetousness and idolatry and distrust and disbelief. I’m talking about the cures for things like discouragement and loneliness.
Why large memory work? Because it takes longer to learn and therefore sticks longer. It really does. And I believe that the text in context means more than a single thought.
And, too, BECAUSE YOU CAN DO IT. YOU CAN.
SO FIND A TRANSLATION THAT YOU LIKE. Try out https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?
START READING IT EVERYDAY, at least once. Maybe just read the first three verses twice a day until you’ve got them down. Then add more verses.
TRY AN ONLINE MEMORY AID, like http://scripturetyper.com/
My personal goal is the first fourteen verses. Who’s in with me?
Comment below if you are joining me in the LENT MEMORY CHALLENGE!
When you are done, please send me a video of you saying it. Maybe your whole family says it together.
SUBMITTED VIDEOS MAY BE POSTED ON THE BLOG. WE’LL HAVE A BEST OF PRESENTED DURING HOLY WEEK.
